Triggers - the How

How do we respond when triggered so not to slide down a spiral of anguish, gloom, despair and misery?

  • To understand that a trigger is nothing other than a perfect starting point on a journey to more peaceful, more harmonious, more tranquil ways of life – is crucial to get started.

  • Triggers are an essential part of change.

  • How can I shift the way I feel after being triggered:

    • I innerstand* that I charge the collective consciousness with my reactions. Here, a quote to myself:

    • “Be the change I like to see.”

    • I find the origins, the causes, the reasoning behind each and every  trigger and neutralize their negative charges (see “Programming”)

    • I understand that triggers can sidetrack me from working on solutions to the “why” I am triggered (see “Circle Work”).I know that triggers never resolve underlying issues.

    • I work on tolerance, forgiveness, and love (even for people nearly impossible to love – including me).

  • When triggers are used as a starting point and a journey of recovery has begun, physiological reactions will show up and point to addictive tendencies, behaviors, and routines. I understand that every recovery is filled with pitfalls and temptations – I will stay on target.

  • I will not forsake my attempts to becoming a better person than I was yesterday. Stay the course and know that nothing is built to last, everything is cyclic and we all are going to die one day.

  • I’ll work on balancing incongruencies within my mind, answer reoccurring questions, and restrain myself from having outbursts that do no longer serve me.

  • I refuse to be sidetracked from finding and neutralizing the origins why I’m triggered.

  • Only the uninitiated allow themselves to be triggered repeatedly by the same issues. Henceforth; I consider myself initiated and refuse to engage in worldly events designed to corrupt my mental and/or my emotional responses.
